About Dig4E

About Dig4E

The primary goal of Dig4E is to bridge the gap between technical standards for digitization and the practical knowledge required in the cultural heritage sector. The complexities of existing standards and guidelines for digitization, combined with the importance of technical metadata, present significant challenges for libraries, archives, and museums.

Audio-visual heritage faces existential threats due to outdated technology and fragile media. Dig4E addresses these challenges through three learning modules focused on:

  • Still image digitization
  • Audio digitization
  • Videotape digitization

Our approach is guided by established guidelines and standards from organizations like the Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initiative (FADGI) and the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA).
